This is a flat three-holed bottom brewer which, unlike cone shaped filter brewers, means the coffee is in contact with the water in a different way.

Flat bed brewing can offer a more uniform extraction and is commonly seen in larger automatic batch brewers, but here, Kalita is bringing the benefits of flat-bed brewing to smaller overall brews. It also has Wave technology filters that change the way the brew extracts.

Brew ratios to start out with are similar to that of a Chemex of 60g of coffee for every 1 litre of water you're using.
